Garlic Lover’s Steak

Ingredients:                                                                            serves 2

 

2 Rib Eye steaks   4-6 oz. each     1 -1 ½ “ ( 2-3 cm ) thick

2-4   cloves of garlic     whole     peeled

1/4 tsp   granulated garlic

1/4 tsp   granulated onion

salt and pepper

garlic-hive compound butter      ( recipe included in this book )

pre heat the oven to 350º F     rack in middle position

pre heat grill or grill pan if cooking indoors   ( use a fry pan if you like )       use a shallow pan with a rack or trivet if cooking indoors  spray the pan / rack / trivet with non-stick spray

unwrap the steaks and pat dry with a paper towel   ( wet steaks take longer to brown )

cut 2 largest garlic cloves lengthwise to expose a large flat surface     use the rest as needed

rub the garlic cloves over the surface of the steaks   both sides and the edges   wait 5 min and repeat

season the steaks with granulated garlic and granulated onion and salt and pepper

grill the steaks   both sides   3-4 min each side   rotate ¼ turn at half time each side

remove the steaks to the rack and place in oven if cooking indoors or to a place of indirect heat on an   outdoor grill

depending on thickness allow 7-10 min for rare, 10-12 min for medium rare, etc

remove from oven or grill and tent with foil for 5 min before serving.

when you plate the steaks top with a slice of garlic-chive compound butter

we serve with home fries or restuffed baked potato and a steamed vegetable
