Gilmore House Cole Slaw       ( from Bud’s sister’s mother-in-law )

Ingredients:                                                                                             serves 4

3 c green cabbage     shredded     small    

or

2 c   green cabbage and 1 c   red cabbage     shredded     small    

2 tbsp   red onion     sliced thin     chopped small

2 tbsp   celery     sliced thin     chopped small

2 tbsp   carrot     shredded    chopped small

1/4 c   mayonnaise or salad dressing

2 tbsp     ranch dressing

1/4 tsp   celery seed

1/4 tsp   mustard seed

1/4 tsp   black pepper     fine

1/8 tsp   salt

place the vegetables and the dry seasonings in a large bowl   mix well

add the ranch dressing and half the mayo     mix well

now you decide when the mixture is moist enough     add the remaining mayo a little at a time and mix well     stop when you reach the consistency you like

once the salad is thoroughly mixed transfer it to a glass or stainless steel bowl and refrigerate at least 2 hours

don’t make more than you need for 1 day because the mayonnaise will break down ( the salad will get watery ) fairly quickly
